Robert was a Canadian National team member from 1979 through 1984. He was the World Professional Dance Champion in 1984-85.

Robert has eighteen years of coaching experience. In 1988, he was awarded Olympic Coaching Apprenticeship. Robert was an assistant at the National Freeskate seminar. He is a Level III certified coach, and is a Skate Canada gold medalist in figures, dance, figures, skills, and freeskate. Robert also earned his Novice competitive freeskate test. Robert has fourteen years of experience as the Director of the North Toronto Summer Skating School, and Granite Club Summer Skating program.

Robert has coached skaters at the provincial, national and international level. He coaches students from beginner through competitive. He currently coaches Gaven Wilder, a 2003 national competitor in Novice Men.
