Neil has an extensive
competitive background, both as a skater and a coach. As a skater,
Neil was Junior Canadian Champion in Pairs, and placed second
in Senior
Pairs at Canadians. He went on to represent Canada at the World
Championships and Olympics Games in
Pairs. He also placed
6th at the North American Pairs Championship. In addition to
Neil's extensive career in pairs, he also competed at the national
level in Junior Men and Junior Dance. Neil was acknowledged
for his outstanding competitive career when
he was
inducted into
the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame.
Neil has 42 years of
experience coaching at Canadian, International, World, and Olympic
level. He has coached national and international
champions. Neil's past students include Astrid Jensen, Ron Shaver,
Scott Hamilton(USA), Suzanna Driano(ITA), Cher & Dennis Pinner
and Ronald Koppelent(AUS). In addition, Neil conducts technical
freestyle seminars,
and acts
as a technical
consultant
for Central
Ontario
Section.
Neil is a Level 4 certified coach, and is a Skate Canada Quintuple
Gold Medalist – pairs, figures, freestyle, dance, free dance.
Neil coaches students from beginner through elite competitive.
Neil is also renowned
as a skate sharpener. He has an office
out of the Richmond Training Centre, which operates Monday through
Thursday.
